Two big clubs in European have unveiled to the world what they’re going to look like for the 2017-18 season. However, one club did so on purpose and the other club had one of their players jump the gun.
First, let’s take a look at the official primary kit unveiling for Liverpool FC. The legendary English club will be celebrating 125 years of existence next season, and they’ve decided to mark the occasion with a kit that definitely has a throwback feel.
The white v-neck collar and sleeves are reminiscent of what you’d see from Liverpool during their some of their glory days in the ’70s and ’80s. Also, it’s clear that they were going for a throwback look in order to celebrate the club’s vast history.
Additionally, Liverpool will be wearing a commemorative liver bird crest on their shirts and will be using a special commemorative crest on everything else for the entirety of the 2017-18 season. The main difference between this and the normal crests is the fact that the years are placed on the side of the crest and “125 YEARS” is displayed below the crest.
It’s very hard to mess up a classic look for a classic club like Liverpool, and New Balance has continued to keep the standards up to a high level here.
Meanwhile in Italy, Juventus is still inexplicably going with their odd “J” logo as their primary crest going forward. Here’s a reminder of what it looked like in case you missed the news.
Now, we’ve got a look at what their primary shirt will look like with this new crest. Unfortunately for Juve, Juan Cuadrado jumped the gun and posted this picture to his social media.
Whoops! With that being said, this is about as legit of a leak as you can get since it came straight from one of the players on the team. The shirt doesn’t look bad at all, but the crest is just so wonky in my opinion that it’s hard to really gloss over it. It’s a very strange situation — the shirt is good, but the crest just brings everything else down.
