Media Guide Offers Look at 2017 World Series, Postseason Logos

2017 World Series Logo Spotted

The 2017 World Series and MLB Postseason logos have both made their first appearance, showing up on a digital copy of the 2017 MLB Umpire Media Guide which has recently been posted online. A special thank you to all of those who tipped me off to this.

Both the Postseason and World Series logos are blue and gold, with the World Series mark including the Commissioner’s Trophy. The font is blue with gold selective bevelling, the batterman also in blue and gold.

No glimpse of the Wildcard, LDS or LCS marks yet but you can safely presume they’ll look just like the Postseason logo each with the appropriate change to the text. The Postseason logo carries over the same font style from the World Series logo but adds two gold horizontal lines and moves the “batterman” up to the top.

This is just the third time the Commissioner’s Trophy has been included in the World Series logo, having previously appeared in the logo for the 2015 World Series and you’d have to go way, way back to 1976 to see it again.

Conspiracy theorists may note, the two flags are absent, which is bad news for the Boston Red Sox. The only three logos to feature the “two flag” design were for the 2004, 2007, and 2013 World Series’, the only three World titles for the BoSox in the last 100 years.
