Continuing a tradition which began last season, Major League Baseball players will be wearing “Play Ball” patches on the front of their jerseys in game, in addition to special t-shirts for batting practice this weekend.
The patches are worn as part of a promotion of youth participation in both baseball and softball. You’ll note in the photo above that the patch features the USA Baseball and USA Softball logos at the bottom. Last year the USA Softball logo was not included. The Toronto Blue Jays wore the same patch just without the USA Baseball logo last season, we imagine it will be the same this year.
Here’s how the patch is placed on the jersey, like we said, right up front:
Also to be worn are special t-shirts, just for batting practice pre-game only, a sampling:
These patches and t-shirts will be worn starting Saturday, June 3rd and again on Sunday, June 4th, 2017.
