New York Giants will wear white Color Rush uniforms for Week 14 home game

Last year, when all 32 teams unveiled their Color Rush uniforms, the New York Giants were one of the teams who stole the show when they unveiled their Color Rush uniforms.

The “fauxback” uniforms were a callback to what the team looked like back in the 1980s and 1990s, and even brought back the old Giants script logo to the helmets. They got their chance to wear the uniforms late in the season for a Thursday night game at Philadelphia.

This year, the Giants won’t be able to break out the Color Rush uniforms for a Thursday night game. That’s because New York’s only Thursday game this season just happens to fall on Thanksgiving against Washington. However, that isn’t stopping them from breaking out the old school uniforms. The NFL gave the Giants the option of wearing the uniforms for any game they wanted so long as it was after Week 5, and the Giants decided to wear them for their Week 14 clash against the Dallas Cowboys.

Here’s the explanation for the move from the Giants themselves:

“After talking with ownership and [head coach Ben] McAdoo, it seemed to be let’s do Color Rush for a game the fans are going to be excited for and amped up for,” Giants equipment director Joe Skiba said. “That’s definitely the Dallas home game. We wanted to wear them for a home game because last year we were on the road in Philadelphia. It’s a homage to the 80s and giving it a modern slant.”

Meanwhile, the Giants continued their recent tradition of announcing their uniform schedule far ahead of time by using Twitter to unveil what they’ll be wearing for the entire season. I love when teams do this, and more teams should join in on doing this.

So, are you glad to know that the Giants will be wearing their popular Color Rush uniforms for this season? Are these the best Color Rush uniforms out there? Let us know what you think!
