Milwaukee Bucks are first team to unveil Classic throwback uniform

While the teams across the NBA unveiled their new Nike uniforms this offseason, one thing that the teams decided to hold off on was unveiling their alternate uniforms. Plenty of teams gave teasers as to what to expect, and this ranged from simply bringing back alts that they wore before Nike took over, to throwbacks. The Milwaukee Bucks fall in the category of the latter as they decided to unveil their throwback “Classic” uniform for the 2017-18 season.

The Bucks are actually doing a cool event where they will be playing a regular season game against the Boston Celtics at their old venue that was formerly known as the MECCA. In order to properly ring in the occasion, the team will wear throwbacks that are inspired by what the team wore from 1968 until 1972.

While these are definitely very similar to what the team wore during their days in the MECCA, it’s not exactly the same. For starters, those old uniforms didn’t have the team’s “Fear the Deer” slogan emblazoned upon them. I think it’s also safe to say that the old uniforms didn’t have a sponsor’s patch on them either, but we’re in a new era and that means that even throwbacks have to carry the sponsorship patch.

There are also slight changes to the font of the script, the numbering is slightly different as well. I’d say that this uniform’s closest comparison would be to that of the 1970-71 squad that won the NBA title.

You also have the give the Bucks credit for choosing a game against the Celtics to have this event. There isn’t a team in the NBA with more traditional-looking uniforms than the Boston Celtics, so this game will definitely look like it took place in a time capsule from the 1970s — just without the super short shorts.

Anyways, what do you think of the Classic uniform for Milwaukee? Are you a fan of the look?
