Major League Baseball will once again pay tribute to those lives lost and affected from the events of September 11, 2001 during their games played on the anniversary.
Beginning with Sunday the 10th and continuing through the 11th on Monday, all thirty MLB teams will wear a special waving US flag patch on the left side of the cap, the design of this patch is unchanged from last season. The Blue Jays will wear a new design crossing the US and Canadian flags. The event is carrying over two days to allow all teams the opportunity to wear the cap as there will only be 16 teams playing on September 11th.
The flag is being placed on left side of the cap which since the 2016 postseason had typically been reserved for the New Era logo, the logo will be temporarily relocated to the right side of the cap just for these games.
There will also be special pre-game ceremonies as well as lineup cards and base jewels marking the occasion. MLB proceeds from sales of these caps will be donated to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Pentagon Memorial and the Flight 93 Memorial.
Caps featuring the flag patches are available for sale, you can check those out here.
