Knights honor 20 years with White Sox with awesome unis

If this is any indication of the caliber of next season’s minor league baseball promotions, we’re in for a great 2018. The Triple-A Charlotte Knights will commemorate 20 years as an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox with uniforms inspired by their parent club’s history.

For a handful of games, the Knights will emulate the White Sox home uniforms from 1982 to 1986, lovingly referred to as the “beach blanket” design (the ones with the numbers on the legs!). The ’80s-era duds were worn by the likes of Carlton Fisk, Harold Baines, Jerry Koosman, and too many others to name.

The Knights’ cap will feature the city’s airport code, CLT, swapping out the three-lettered abbreviation for the “SOX” on the old Chicago uniforms.

The promotion is sure to prompt a lot of speculation. For the record, there’s no word yet on whether the Knights plan to wear shorts or collars in 2018, or whether Chris Sale has been booked for a fabric scissors giveaway night.
