Houston Texans players were reportedly thinking of playing without a logo on their helmet during today’s game against the Seahawks in Seattle in response to the news of a comment made by Texans team owner Bob McNair earlier this week.
It was just one of the options the team had considered according to a story on ESPN.com:
Texans left tackle Duane Brown has since made it clear to ESPN’s Josina Anderson that the team will not go forward with that particular option and will indeed wear their usual Texans logo decals on their helmets.
During the 2014 NBA Playoffs the Los Angeles Clippers faced a somewhat similar situation, their owner caught making offensive remarks. Clippers players protested by taking off their jerseys prior to their next game and tossing them into a pile at centre court and continuing their pre-game warmups with their tops turned inside out, not showing any team logo.
For his comments Clippers owner Donald Sterling was quickly banned from the National Basketball Association for life and fined $2.5 million.
