New United Soccer League franchise, the Las Vegas Lights FC, this morning unveiled their new “fan-designed” logo for their inaugural 2018 campaign. The logo was inspired by various elements of fan submissions sent in to the team in the two months since they were officially awarded a USL expansion team in August.
“First and foremost, we wanted our fans and supporters in Las Vegas to lead the process of developing our official logo, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the result,” said Brett Lashbrook, team owner and CEO of Las Vegas Lights FC. “The logo plays into the look and feel of Las Vegas, most notably Fremont Street, right down the road from our home at Cashman Field.
As Mr Lashbrook says, the neon lights of Nevada’s largest city are the obvious focus here, also including the famous starburst as well as the overall shape (rotated 90-degrees) from the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign; this sign was also the inspiration for the logo used as a shoulder patch by the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
The official team colours of blue, yellow, and pink are from the City of Las Vegas logo with features a pink, blue, and a yellow diamond.
Las Vegas Lights FC will kick off (sorry) their inaugural season in the United Soccer League in February 2018, they will play their home games at Cashman Field.
