What’s the greatest uniform in NHL history? How about an Original Six classic like the Montreal Canadiens? Maybe a ’90s experiment like the New York Islanders “fisherman”? Or how about one of the teams we all miss from years ago like the Hartford Whalers?
The answer is coming soon, and it’s you the fans who the National Hockey League is asking; today the league launched a new site to determine who will come out on top.
Featuring 100 different home and road uniforms (no alternate jerseys or one-offs) spanning the entire first century of the league the site presents a random head-to-head matchup and asks you to pick which of the two uniforms is better. Every winning pick counts as a win for that team, every loss is a loss, with teams ranked by winning percentage.
Full disclosure, I was heavily involved working with the NHL for this project. In addition to putting together the initial list of teams and helping whittle it down to the 100 we see there now, the site also features my historical write-ups, as well as photo galleries and era appropriate logos for each of the uniforms being voted on.
I encourage you to check it out and start voting now at GreatestNHLUniforms.com
