Hudson Valley Renegades unveil new logos

The Hudson Valley Renegades, a Tampa Bay Rays affiliate in the short-season single-A New York-Penn League, unveiled a series of updated and new logos today. The new marks were designed by Dan Simon of Studio Simon, who created the team’s original brand in 1994 and worked on updates in 1995 and 2003.

The updated look maintains the color palette that the team adopted in 2013, and refines the centerpiece of the team’s identity, Rascal the raccoon. New to the brand are a custom typeface and several new marks.

The new set of logos includes what Simon called an “alternate primary,” which features a bridge across the Hudson River.

The new suite of logos also features the cap logos above. The first alternate cap, the HV with the raccoon tail, is an update to an existing mark, while the second, the striped home plate, is new to this update.

The team also unveiled three different versions of a logo that commemorates their 25th season—each one representing a color scheme from the team’s history. The 25th season logo features the Renegades script Simon created in 1994, as well as the slogan “25 Years of Fun!” in the custom typeface unveiled today.
