The AHL’s Hershey Bears, 11-time Calder Cup champions, will take to the ice for the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic in a specialty jersey that hearkens back to the early days of the team’s 80-year history.
The diagonal HERSHEY on the front of the jersey echoes that of the Bears’ 1969 championship team. The jersey also features a skating bear, which has been featured as part of the team’s identity in various forms since the franchise’s first season in 1938-39.
The jersey’s shoulders feature logos for Hershey’s 80th Anniversary Season and the 2018 Capital BlueCross Outdoor Classic, both of which were designed by Joe Bosack & Co. of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Bosack is also the designer of Hershey’s current logo.
The game will take place January 20, 2018, against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, who will also wear specialty jerseys, which have not been released yet.
Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off after the game.
