Adidas will debut new football template for 2018 Army All-American Bowl

The Army All-American Bowl is the annual showcase of some of high school football’s brightest talents and the college football stars of tomorrow. It will take place next weekend on January 6 at the Alamodome in San Antonio and while the game itself is worth watching if you’re into following the college football recruiting process and actually seeing the kids on the field before they don their new school’s colors, this game will also be worth keeping an eye on because of the uniforms themselves.

Adidas is once again the official outfitter of the Army All-American Bowl and this year it’s an especially big deal since the uniform supplier is unveiling their new Primeknit A1 Football Uniform. Here are the details on what’s new about this template from Adidas themselves:

A new body-mapping jersey design features an all-new ribbed knit pattern on the chest and shoulder pads to produce a refined fit, while knit engineered mesh channels feature Climacool technology to provide enhanced breathability and cooling zones. The development of a new innovative chevron pattern on the chest of the jersey aligns with a player’s shoulder pads and generates increased durability and protection for high-contact zones, while the inside of the jersey features silicon grip patterns on the shoulders to lock pads in place.

Additionally, Primeknit finishes that were inspired by the adidas UltraBOOST and NMD are incorporated into the collar, sleeve cuff and hem for added comfort and a new infinity neckline delivers for a clean, iconic design that eliminates distractions and allows for a full range of motion. The revolutionary Primeknit A1 football pants have been re-engineered with just two seams and feature bonded pockets for added comfort and a clean compression look and feel. Additionally, the pants are equipped with ribbed Primeknit on the knees for added durability.

Naturally, the arrival of a new template means that it’s time for speculation to run rampant as to which Adidas schools will decide to hop on the new template’s bandwagon. This is actually a very exciting development since, design-wise, Adidas has been doing a pretty good job when it comes to football uniforms as of late. The obvious hope is that the new template doesn’t end up forcing designers to have to compromise what they want from a visual standpoint in order to make their vision fit on the template.

For now, we’ll get a preview of what the future holds for Adidas and their football portfolio when it comes to the Primeknit A1 template. What do you all think of the new look? Are you excited to see what the future holds for the uniforms that will be coming while using this template?
