[Press Release] To celebrate a website redesign and other ongoing projects slated for 2018, Gotham Baseball is rolling out a new logo.
Designed by award-winning designer Todd Radom, the new Gotham Baseball logo incorporates aspects of Gotham Baseball’s past, while incorporating a sleeker look that mirrors the brand’s push forward.
“I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing artists over the years, and having Todd come on board for this logo redesign was an incredible privilege.” said Gotham Baseball founder Mark C. Healey. “His vision for the new Gotham Baseball was a perfect fit with mine, and it looks incredible.”
Radom is well know in the sports industry, having created logos and other material for the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball. Most recently, Radom created the logos and uniforms for Ice Cube’s BIG3, the new 3-on-3 basketball league.
“While the platform for Gotham Baseball has changed over the years, our slogan has never changed; we cover the past, present and future of the New York Game,” said Healey. “This new logo carries that mission forward, created by an artist in Todd who embraces the classic even as he produces cutting edge designs.”
The new identity includes a re-imagining of the Gotham “G” logo, originally envisioned by Healey and designed by artist Karen Cousino for the first Gotham Baseball rebrand in 2006. It also retains the Gotham Baseball colors of navy, white and orange in the new design.
“I am a New York guy, born in Manhattan—the first game I ever attended was at Shea Stadium in 1971,” said Radom. “I understand and appreciate Mark’s knowledge and passion for the sport and for the city and I’m happy to have been able to contribute to this great project.”
The logo redesign is just the first in a series of projects that Gotham Baseball has planned for 2018.
“It’s going to be a great year for Gotham Baseball,” said Healey. “Make sure you keep checking us out at GothamBaseball.com and follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to find out what we are working on.”
About Gotham Baseball: Gotham Baseball has been and is many things; a print magazine, a popular website and message board, a podcast, and a multi-platform product with a digital magazine and podcast component. But really, it’s a celebration of New York Baseball. The “past, present and future of the New York game”, as our tagline goes. Named by Amazon.com as one of the Top 10 New Magazines of 2005 (and the only sports magazine on the list), the print run from 2005-2008 was selected and is now part of the permanent archive at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s A. Bartlett Giamatti Research Center in Cooperstown, NY. Now with a new website design, we’re hoping that we can reach even more NY baseball fans than ever. So come on down to our virtual stoop, let us know what you like and don’t like, and what you’d like to see more of.
