NHL star Rod Gilbert played almost two decades with the New York Rangers from 1960 to 1978, but one fan will remember him most for his appearance in the stands a recent game in Las Vegas. When Gilbert spotted a fan wearing a Gilbert #7 Rangers jersey during pre-game warm-ups, he approached and tapped him on the shoulder. The fan was so surprised his hat fell off.
That's me surprising a Ranger fan wearing #7 in Las Vegas. Go @NYRangers! pic.twitter.com/0k1CBZK17Z

In his career, Gilbert played more than 1,000 games, tallying more than 400 goals and 600 assists. But no matter how good a hockey player he was and how genuinely cool it was of him to make this fan’s day, no one is perfect—and that’s why we’re watching this video shot in portrait mode instead of landscape.
Gilbert posted the (vertical) video on Twitter, where it has been viewed more than 100,000 times.
