San Jose Announced as Host of 2019 NHL All-Star Game

The City of San Jose will host the 2019 NHL All-Star Game the league confirmed yesterday, the official announcement comes a day after the news was first reported by Teal Town USA.

This will mark the second time the San Jose Sharks have hosted an NHL All-Star Game having done so previously in 1997; San Jose was also set to host the 1995 game but that was wiped out by the lockout which pushed the opening of the regular season that year to late January ’95.

“It’s very big for San Jose to land the All-Star Game simply for our fans,” San Jose Sharks president John Tortora said to NHL.com. “So many fans come up to me and still talk about the 1997 All-Star Game … To bring the game back after 22 years is long overdue and it’s primarily for our fans to celebrate the great game of hockey.”

A placeholder logo has been unveiled along with the announcement of the game, it shows an “ALL*STAR” wordmark on a rectangle featuring a teal-to-grey gradient, eight stars run along the top of the logo in teal with “SAN JOSE * 2019” in an orange box at the bottom. This logo will be replaced with an official primary logo in the next few months.

The All-Star Skills Competition will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019 followed by the All-Star Game the next day on Sunday, January 27th.
