The Binghamton Rumbleponies, a Double-A Mets affiliate named for the city’s preponderance of carousels, will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park with “Jurassic Ballpark Night” which will feature, according to the team’s promotional schedule, “specialty caps, jerseys and an appearance by Dakota and Friends.”
The Brandiose-designed logo features a skeletonized Rumble Pony, similar to the velociraptor (actually a Deinonychus) skeleton a field crew unearths at the beginning of the movie. The dinosaur-themed promotional night, June 23 against the Hartford Yard Goats, will bring new meaning to the team’s slogan, “Let’s Rumble!”
No word on whether the players on the field will be genetically engineered clones of long-since disappeared ballplayers, but there will surely be some pretty sweet caps and shirts. We’ll have pics and updates here as the team unveils uniforms and other gear.
