It’s opening day in the minors, and with that, we bring you this tradition as old as a couple years ago: A color wheel made up entirely of minor league baseball logos. Now, you might question the usefulness of such a thing, but how else would you know that the color complement of the Florida Fire Frogs is the Lakewood Blue Claws? Or that you could build a really nice analogous color scheme based on the brands of the Daytona Tortugas, Lexington Legends, and Montgomery Biscuits? You wouldn’t, and that’s why I spend hours and hours at the expense of my family, sleep, and personal hygiene putting this together every spring.
The MiLB color wheel incorporates the logos of all 160 affiliated Minor League Baseball teams (some are primary logos while others are alternate or secondary—this sort of thing requires a bit of creative license). With the constant changing of brands in minor league baseball, this is updated every year (see the original 2016 version and the 2017 update). This year’s version includes entirely new brands from the Gwinnett Stripers, Tampa Tarpons, and Greenville Reds, as well as updated logos from the Augusta Greenjackets and Hudson Valley Renegades.
