The Anaheim Ducks will have a mighty fine looking uniform to help celebrate their 25th NHL season.
Today the Ducks unveiled their new third uniform, based heavily off of what the team wore during their time as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim from 1993-2006 but also with elements of their current look mixed in.
The base of the jersey is black rather than the eggplant of the original look but still incorporates the diagonal striping. A jade shoulder yoke is added to the new uniform with the Ducks current “D” logo on each shoulder.
Front and center on the chest is the classic Mighty Ducks logo, sticks updated to be the current shade of orange the team uses and the triangle in silver in recognition of the “silver” 25th anniversary.
The player name and number is in the current Ducks font rather than the original.
A look at the original and the new side-by-side to give you an idea of the differences between the two looks:
In total seven colours are used in the uniform: Eggplant, Jade, Anaheim Ducks Orange, Anaheim Ducks Gold, Anaheim Ducks Silver, White, and Black; all seven of these colours have been used by the Ducks and Mighty Ducks over the course of their franchise history. When you factor in the original logo on the chest, modern logo on the shoulder, and the font style this truly is a uniform which celebrates the entire uniform history of the Ducks.
Jerseys will be available to pre-order on Monday. As this is an official “third uniform” the Ducks will wear the uniform a handful of times throughout the 2018-19 season, it will make its debut during their home opener versus the Detroit Red Wings on October 8th
