The National Hockey League this morning unveiled the logo for their 2019 Stadium Series event to be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA. As was the case just two seasons ago, it’s the Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins battling outdoors, the event moving across the state after Pittsburgh played host in 2017.
This year’s logo, designed by NHL Creative Services, focuses on the Pennsylvania interstate rivalry, contained within a keystone making reference to Pennsylvania’s “Keystone State” nickname; so named as it was geographically located in the middle of the original 13 U.S. colonies.
In the “D” of “STADIUM” is the Liberty Bell, the bell that originally rang in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall to summon citizens to hear the first public readout of the declaration of independence in 1776. The colours on either side of the logo represent the two competing teams, gold for the Penguins and orange for the Flyers.
A look at the 2019 Stadium Series logo versus the other five years the league has held this event:
The 2019 NHL Stadium Series is scheduled for February 23, 2019, at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
