Players Weekend is making a return to Major League Baseball, the league today announcing the caps, jerseys, and socks that all thirty teams will wear to mark the event.
From August 24th through 26th teams will once again don the colourful, pullover uniforms; designed to resemble Little League-style uniforms. The special uniforms will also be worn during the 2018 MLB Little League Classic game at Williamsport, Penn. between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.

Other than the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants all of the caps are different from what was worn last season for Players Weekend. Visor colours are now different from the crown across the league with cap logos re-coloured to use just the colours chosen for the crown and visor. Milwaukee and Philadelphia are both using a different cap logo than last year, the other 28 teams going with the same logo.
As for the jerseys, one-half of the league is wearing the exact same jersey design as last year, the other half going either with a new design or re-coloured from 2017. Those teams with new jerseys are Baltimore, the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado, Detroit, Houston, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco, St Louis, and Washington.
The most talked about feature of this program last year were the use of player nicknames on the back of jerseys instead of last names, this will be returning in 2018.
There’s also a new sock design:
