The Orlando Magic will celebrate their 30th season with a commemorative logo and uniforms that evoke the franchise’s glory days, both in terms of design and the quality of the team. The just-unveiled retro uniforms recall the mid-1990s teams that featured the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Penny Hardaway, and Dennis Scott.
The uniforms are not an exact match. Most notably, the original white star for the letter A in Orlando has been replaced by a silver star in the throwbacks (even though everyone knows the 30th anniversary gift is pearls, not silver). The new version also include Nike and Disney logos on the left and right chest, as well as the word Magic on the belt.
Orlando was awarded an NBA franchise in 1987 and the Magic played their first regular-season game in November of 1989 (a loss to the New Jersey Nets). In 29 seasons, the team has two conference championships and five division titles to their name. The 2018-19 season will include celebrations throughout the year.
