RoughRiders honor Texas State Fair as Frisco Corny Dogs

The minor league baseball season is in its last few weeks, but we’re still getting news about new food-based promotional identities. The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, are the latest team to adopt a brand based on a local delicacy. With just over a week left in their season, the team will change their name to the Frisco Corny Dogs and wear specialty uniforms as part of their State Fair Night.

Corny Dogs are a signature item at the Texas State Fair, where literally hundreds of thousands of the corn meal and processed meatsicles are sold each year.

The Corny Dogs uniforms, which feature a mustard-mustachioed breaded hot dog on a stick as a logo, are part of a larger fair-based celebration, including rides, games, music, videos, and free angioplasties for all fans (probably). State Fair Night will take place Saturday, August 25, the first game of the team’s final homestand of the season.

Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned during the game to benefit the State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock Auction Scholarship Program.
