In their final home game of the season, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, high-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, are taking the field tonight wearing the colors of their NFL neighbors to the north, the Carolina Panthers. For the “Two States. One Team” promotion, the Pelicans of South Carolina will wear jerseys in the colors of the Panthers, who play in North Carolina. The jerseys the team is wearing feature the familiar teal and black, with Pelicans on the front and the legend “One Carolina” on the back.
Other homages to the football team include adding the Panthers logo to the Pelicans’ field and appearances by Panthers’ alumni, mascot, and cheerleaders.
