The New York Islanders this morning officially unveiled their new alternate third jersey for the upcoming 2018-19 NHL season. The uniform matches a leak that got out there early last month.
Borrowing a somewhat similar look to what the club wore for their Stadium Series game at Yankee Stadium in 2014, the jersey is also blue with a white shoulder yoke and a simplified “NY” logo on the chest. The uniform was designed in collaboration between the Islanders, Adidas, and Adjective & Co., a Florida-based advertising agency.
The crest on the chest has been altered slightly from the usual “NY” the Islanders use, the hockey stick blade of the “Y” has been straightened and shortened with rounded edges, the team claims it gives a more symmetrical look overall. The blade of the stick also includes four diagonal stripes in recognition of the Islanders four Stanley Cup Championships.
The numbers on the jersey are orange with white trim, player name is the opposite – white with orange trim.
Inside the collar is a map of Long Island, the traditional home and namesake of the team, on the outside back collar (this is new, right?) it now reads “ISLANDERS”
No schedule was announced alongside the unveiling, it will be available for purchase starting Tuesday.
