Ducks Infamous Wild Wing Jerseys Return Tonight

Wild Wing Returns Tonight!

But as it seems is the case with hockey’s more unusual uniforms of the 1990s, it’s being kept to the pre-game skate.

The Anaheim Ducks are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their inaugural season throughout the year and as part of that fun is a series of games in which the team are wearing different throwback uniforms for a pre-game skate. They’ve already worn their original eggplant road and white home uniforms so far, tonight they move on to their most infamous uniform in the history of the team, the 1995-96 alternate “Wild Wing” jersey worn while the team was still known as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Tonight is the only date on the schedule that the club will wear this fowl uniform; in 2015 some Ducks players wore this uniform as part of a Teemu Selanne jersey retirement night, a photo of which appears below courtesy Shandy Lo’s Blogspot (Shandy’s post contains some great detailed shots and information on the 2015 version of this jersey):
