The NBA Shop, Nike App, and a Spain-based retailer are just the latest to leak NBA City Edition uniforms as we got an early look at *four* more jerseys this morning.
These four pushes the total amount of NBA City Edition jerseys to have leaked above the twenty team mark, which is over two-thirds of the league. Maybe it was intentional, it certainly got us all talking about it.
Going in alphabetical order…
The Dallas Mavericks who are keeping some of the colours of their previous city uniform (which was based on the neon look of their skyline at night) but has removed the green and replaced the “DAL” with their primary icon re-coloured:
The Los Angeles Clippers have the most unexpected uniform and I think I like it! Although it really has nothing to do with the Clippers (which isn’t uncommon with this series), this uniform would fit in perfectly in a rival basketball league from the 1970s or 80s:
The Clippers jersey also includes a nice tribute to team broadcaster Ralph Lawler who is set to retire following the 2018-19 season.
Portland sticks with the “RipCity” wordmark on the chest but ditches the plaid/Argyle (unfortunately) in exchange for a more on-brand diagonal slash (good, good):
Sacramento (who officially unveiled their uniform as I was writing about the leak… stay tuned for that post) also stays in the same ballpark as their previous City jersey, same colours, same general design, just replacing the logo with a wordmark:
Feels like a way to get around the NBA’s mandate that these jerseys get re-designed each season.
