Harlem Globetrotters Unveil New Uniform, First Change in 20 Years

Sweet Georgia Brown, the Harlem Globetrotters have a new uniform!

Unveiled as part of their new deal with Champion Athleticwear, the Globetrotters new uniform includes an updated wordmark across the chest, a subtle sublimated star pattern, as well as a new special fitted design for female players.

The team is calling it the biggest change to the design of their uniforms in over twenty years.

“Getting the opportunity to outfit an iconic organization like the Harlem Globetrotters has been a phenomenal experience for us at Champion,” said Tyler Lewison, general manager of Champion Teamwear. “From their continued innovation in basketball to their community outreach, this team embodies what it means to be a Champion, and we are thrilled about working with them going forward. Their shows are a memorable experience for the entire family, so we can’t wait for fans to see them in their new Champion uniforms this season.”

The Harlem Globetrotters are a travelling exhibition basketball team, quite easily the most successful of its kind of all-time, and while they’re known more for their comedic hijinks during games, “That game was fixed! They were using a ladder!”, the Globetrotters have also played the odd all-the-way-through “serious” game over the years, including a victory over the Minneapolis Lakers in 1948 prior to the desegregation of the NBA. Two years later Globetrotter Chuck Cooper was the first African American player drafted by an NBA team.

As part of their new, multi-year partnership, Champion will outfit the Globetrotters with all of their on-court and travel apparel, which includes player uniform, warm-ups, t-shirts, jackets, pants, hoodies, jerseys, shorts and socks. The new uniforms are débuting this month and will be worn for the remainder of the 2018-19 tour.
