Blackhawks Bring Back Winter Classics For Three More

Despite their loss, the Chicago Blackhawks will be bringing back their black-and-white 1930s style uniforms worn at the recent 2019 Winter Classic three more times in the next few months.

The throwbacks will be worn January 22nd versus the New York Islanders, February 18th against the Ottawa Senators, and March 24th against the Colorado Avalanche, all three of these games at home.

Unfortunately, none of the games are against any “Original Six” club, but, hey, there was a team called the Ottawa Senators back when this design was originally worn. Even if the Senators actually wanted to, they likely wouldn’t even be allowed to wear Ottawa’s 1930s design simply due to difficulties telling the two teams apart.

Breaking out a Winter Classic design for a few indoor games following the event is common in recent seasons, the St Louis Blues, for example, loved their 2017 Winter Classic design so much they wore them a half-dozen times in the three months following and made them their alternate uniform as soon as they could.

No word yet if the Boston Bruins will wear their 2019 Winter Classic jersey for any additional games this season, with a white design it’d be slightly more difficult for them as they’d need to coordinate with a visiting team to make it work.
