The Los Angeles Rams wasted no time picking the uniform they’d wear at Super Bowl LIII.
Within an hour of their overtime victory in New Orleans in the NFC Championship, their official Twitter account @RamsNFL Tweeted the following…
Yes, the Rams will wear their throwback uniforms at the Super Bowl! I mean, they might as well stick with what they’ve been wearing as their defacto home uniform all season for the biggest game of the year.
A throwback in the Super Bowl is rare, but it has actually happened once before — the San Francisco 49ers donned their throwbacks for Super Bowl XXIX against the San Diego Chargers during the NFL’s 75th anniversary season in January 1995.
The Rams have worn the yellow horn helmets in two previous Super Bowls, including their only victory at Super Bowl XXXIV (also in Atlanta) against the Tennessee Titans. Of course, the Rams were known as the St. Louis Rams at the time of the championship and they did so while wearing their road white jerseys, not the blues we’ll see two Sundays from now.
Los Angeles is 5-1 on the 2018 season (including playoffs) while wearing the retro blue jerseys with throwback helmet, throw in a 2-0 record while wearing the retro lid with the ColorRush set and the team is 7-1 with the yellow horns this year.
