Reds, Orioles Add Memorial Patch for Frank Robinson

The Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles will both pay tribute to the memory of Hall of Famer Frank Robinson throughout the 2019 season. Both patches will feature Robinson’s number 20 in a black circle.

Robinson, who died on February 7th at the age of 83, played ten seasons with the Reds from 1956 through 1965, during his years with the Reds Robinson won an MVP, Rookie of the Year, and was selected to the NL All-Star team six times batting .303 and swatting over 300 home runs.

The Reds will wear the patch on the left chest of their jersey, we’ve made an estimate of what that could look like:

Following a trade in the 1965 offseason, Robinson went to the Orioles where he kept doing what he did best, in six seasons with the O’s Robinson won another MVP and was a five-time AL All-Star. He came back to Baltimore after his playing career to manage the Orioles for another four seasons from 1988 to 1991.

The Orioles patch will be on their right sleeve:

In his 21-year career Robinson hit .294 with 586 home runs, finishing just shy of 3000 hits, he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.
