Baseball’s back this afternoon(!) and with that, we’re getting our first look at the newest logo and uniform of the year in an actual game-like scenario. The Miami Marlins today decided to forego their Spring Training uniform and go out there in their full new home uniform for their game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The new Marlins logo features a marlin leaping out of the water with baseball stitching to complete a baseball shape next to it, the colour scheme retains black but adds a light (almost teal-like) blue and a bright red. Full coverage of the new Marlins look for 2019 here.
Some looks at the new Marlins home uniform and logo in a game situation screencapped from Fox Sports’ broadcast of the game:
Things I noticed — the helmets are matte black rather than the glossy/shiny style, the black logo is pretty tricky to see off the matte black helmet. The sleeve striping is also tough to see, it’s three very thin lines right at the cuff unless you’re zooming in on a player it appears the sleeves are plain white (as the previous Marlins uniform featured).
Overall I still like the rebrand, I just think they need to use more of that new blue across their entire set — it’s just teasing us sitting up there in the top right corner of the on-screen graphics.
