He’s yet to play a single game for them, but Bryce Harper is already setting records in Philadelphia.
According to ESPN, Harper’s new number three jersey for the Phillies has established a new record for the most Fanatics jersey sales in the first 48-hours after its launch. This bests the previous record which was set by LeBron James after he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers this past summer. The rest of the top five include Giancarlo Stanton of the New York Yankees, Khalil Mack of the Chicago Bears, and Jimmy Garoppolo of the San Francisco 49ers.
Harper signed with the Phillies this past Friday but his new jersey wasn’t made available on Fanatics until Saturday afternoon during his introductory press conference in Clearwater. Harper said he opted to wear jersey number 3 instead of his usual number 34 in tribute to Baseball Hall of Fame electee Roy Halladay who wore the number during his four seasons in Philadelphia from 2010 to 2013, Halladay died in a plane crash in November 2017 at the age of 40.
Harper’s new number 3 Phillies jersey, in all different flavours (include the 1980s style powder blue throwback jersey!) are available now, right here. Or, if you’re like me and have an old Hunter Pence Phillies jersey lying around, you’re already halfway home.
