The New Hampshire Fisher Cats will honor their region’s French heritage with uniforms that evoke a team that once played in the second-largest French-speaking city in the world. That city is Montréal, Québec, just over 250 miles northwest of Manchester, New Hampshire, and the team, of course, is the long-lost Expos. The Fisher Cats’ one-game jerseys will evoke the powder blue road uniforms that the Expos wore beginning in their inaugural season in 1969.
The Fisher Cats, who have been the Double-A affiliate of Canada’s other team, the Toronto Blue Jays, since they moved to Manchester in 2004, will host the NH PoutineFest before the game—a celebration of the savory combination of French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy (only the greatest thing ever invented).
The promotion, be held in partnership with Manchester’s Franco-American Centre, will take place during the Sunday, June 23, afternoon game against the Trenton Thunder.
