Overshadowed by St. Mary’s shocking win over top-ranked Gonzaga late last night, the West Coast Conference introduced a brand new logo on Tuesday afternoon.
The new logo was developed by Legend Labs, a brand strategy firm.
“We began this process under the strong leadership and guidance of the West Coast Conference presidents and athletic directors,” conference commissioner Gloria Nevarez said in a press release Tuesday. “They have a clear vision and mission for the future of the conference and its membership. As a conference, we are committed to showcasing what the WCC has to offer on the national stage and this innovative direction and updated brand will help us achieve that endeavor.”
The conference’s previous mark prominently displayed the letter “W” paired with a star and wave motif, while the new logo features the addition of two “Cs” appropriately pointing west. The white logo has only been shown on a teal background thus far, quite the departure from the red white and blue used by the conference since 1989.
The West Coast Conference’s official Twitter account shared the following video on Tuesday, which promoted the motto “Our Way is West.”
