The Fort Wayne TinCaps, Single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will wear uniforms that evoke the iconic sickly yellow dress shirt and awkward brown tie that Dwight Schrute wore on the TV show The Office, which has remained on the forefront of the popular consciousness since its final episode aired almost six years ago.
Dwight Kurt Schrute III, played by Rainn Wilson, was the assistant to the regional manager for Dunder Mifflin paper company, proprietor of the independent beet farm Schrute Farms, and a purple belt in Goju-Ryu karate. Schrute’s short-sleeved earth toned shirts were a staple of the abrasive character’s ensembles, and now they’ll appear on the baseball field in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The TinCaps will wear the “Assistant to the Regional Manager” uniforms for one game on Tribute to the Office night, June 28 against the South Bend Cubs.
