As we first reported on Friday, Michigan State unveiled a neon green-accented alternate uniform ahead of its annual Spring Game on Saturday morning.
The uniform — which will be worn during a night game this fall, presumably the matchup with Arizona State on Sept. 14 — is traditional green with an oversized neon green “STATE” across the chest. The color has been featured in numerous alternate uniforms worn by the basketball program since 2016.
The Spartan decal on the anodized aluminum green helmet, the Big Ten patch, Nike swoosh and pants are also neon green. The number font remains the same as the team’s standard uniform, however.
Michigan State has worn a handful of alternate uniforms in the past, including a Pro Combat against Michigan in 2011; a chrome helmet in 2012 and 2013; a bronze-heavy alternate uniform in 2015; and a white helmet in 2017, which was worn regularly last season, as well.
Michigan State is in the fifth year of a 10-year apparel contract with Nike, which will net the program $33 million.
