Indianapolis Indians to wear Indy 500 uniforms

The 103rd Indianapolis 500 will take place just over three weeks from now, but the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will pay homage to the famous race tonight. The team will wear Indy 500-branded uniforms for its game against the Louisville Bats.

The specialty logos combine the Indians’ mark with the iconic brick-based branding of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which hosts IndyCar racing’s most important event on Memorial Day Weekend. The brick pattern in the logo references the track’s nickname, the Brickyard, which derives from the bricks used to pave the track in 1909.

The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game to raise money for Fold of Honor, which provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled service members.
