It was announced earlier this year that adidas had reached a deal to become the official outfitter of the Little League World Series. And on June 12, the footwear and athletic apparel company unveiled their debut uniforms for the upcoming tournament.
The uniforms feature colors representative of the country, region or state, all of which are fused together on the inside of the back collar to form a multi-colored unity band.
“When these boys and girls from around the world get together and share a common goal, there is a unique bonding experience that happens and we wanted to put a spotlight on that unity through the design of these uniforms,” said United State Sports senior design director Todd Rolak. “The Little League World Series tournaments are a tremendous journey for young athletes, and we find the ability to have an impact on these moments and these memories incredibly rewarding at adidas.”
The left sleeve of each jersey features a keystone-shaped Little League patch — which was created in 1948 and pays homage to the tournament’s location of Williamsport, Pennsylvania — while the Little League World Series logo adorns the right sleeve.
adidas also created a brand-new serif font specifically for the event and included an underline below the team name and numbers to mimic a base path.
“The Little League World Series is an iconic event that gives the opportunity for kids in communities all around the world to come together and unite through the games of baseball and softball,” said Little League senior vice president and chief marketing officer Liz DiLullo Brown. “Thanks to the tremendous efforts of the adidas team, this year’s uniforms will create a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will remind every Little League World Series player about the importance of unity, tradition and history.”
The 2019 Little League World Series takes place Aug. 8-25 and will be broadcast live on the ESPN family of networks. For more information, check out littleleague.org/world-series/.
