Adidas and Major League Soccer unveiled the kits that will be worn by the league’s best during the upcoming 2019 MLS All-Star game.
When the MLS All-Stars take the pitch at Orlando’s Exploria Stadium against Atlético Madrid on July 31st they’ll do so wearing purple tops, similar in colour to those worn by the local Orlando City SC side.
The jersey features an all-over design of maple leaves and stars in reference to Canada and the United States, the two nations whose clubs make up MLS. The familiar three stripes from Adidas run along each shoulder with the Adidas logo on the upper-right chest. The MLS shield appears on the upper-left chest and on the right sleeve, the logo of jersey advertiser Target is front-and-centre.
Two local references find their way into the design, beyond the overall purple theme, by way of a “jock tag” and a badge up by the back collar. The jock tag shows a globe with lines of orbit around it, a nod to the space industry at nearby Cape Canaveral; the back collar is a 407, the local Orlando area code.

Like the jersey, the official game ball goes purple with a similar star and maple leaf pattern. The Adidas, MLS league logo, and commissioner’s signature are in gold, which is also the accent colour of hosts Orlando City SC.
This year’s event is the 24th edition of the MLS All-Star Game which started off having the best players from the Eastern and Western Conferences play against each other, the current format of having the league’s best on one side against that of a European club team was adopted in 2005.
