The American Hockey League today unveiled the logo for the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic, to be played in Ontario, California and hosted by the Ontario Reign.
Borrowing its overall shield shape from the Reign’s NHL affiliate, the Los Angeles Kings, the logo also makes use of the main colour scheme of the Kings (and Reign) with a simple black, white, and grey palette.
Inside the shield, we see familiar sights from California including a mountain, two palm trees, with a clear view at the night sky overhead. The LA Kings font is used to spell out “ALL * STAR” across the front of the logo in white. The logo of the presenting sponsor, Southern California Ontario International Airport, is shown at the bottom of the shield.
The 2020 AHL All-Star Classic logo was designed by Matt McElroy.
The AHL All-Star Classic uses a format somewhat similar to what’s been used by the NHL and their All-Star Game for the last few seasons. Both feature several mini-games between the divisions, but instead of the NHL’s three tournament games done bracket style, the AHL goes with a round robin format playing six games in total before a single championship final between the top two divisions.
The 2020 AHL All-Star Classic will be played at Ontario’s Toyota Arena on January 27, 2020.
