Last night the Sacramento Kings revealed the throwback “classic edition” uniform the team will wear for a handful of games during the upcoming 2019-20 NBA season.
A tribute to the look of the Kings from 1991 to 1994, the uniform is royal blue with white and blue trim around the arms. Across the front “Kings” is scripted in white with red trim, a crown dots the ‘i’ in ‘Kings’.
The uniform is coming back in part to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the team’s relocation to Sacramento from Kansas City in 1985. A schedule of games it will be worn in is still to be announced.
The Kings franchise has used this wordmark several times throughout the history of their franchise, dating back to their time in KC in the 1970s.
It came with the team to Sacramento and continued to be used until the mid-1990s and since then it has been brought back for use as an alternate or throwback jersey in various colours including a polarizing gold and purple version from 2005 to 2007.
