Central Michigan Chippewas Unveil Updated Uniforms

Central Michigan University’s football program enters into a new era under the direction of first-year head coach Jim McElwain, so it’s only appropriate that the Chippewas received updated uniforms for the upcoming season.

The changes might not seem all that significant at first glance, but Central Michigan has switched from a block number and letter font to an italicized font that matched the movement of the Flying “C” logo on the helmet. The adidas logo also moved from directly under the collar to the right shoulder, which will presumably be balanced out by a Mid-American Conference patch on the left.

The reason for the latter change is that the Chippewas have moved away from adidas’ TechFit (tire tread) template and will be wearing an older-style uniform build this season (with mesh holes throughout).

While it’s not shown in the photos, Central Michigan will wear a CFB150 patch to commemorate the 150th anniversary of college football’s first game. All FBS and FCS teams will wear the patch this season, while lower levels will don helmet stickers instead.

The Chippewas’ new look is complete with traditional Brashier stripes on the pants. For additional looks, check out the photos below:
