Continuing today’s theme of Under Armour’s marquee programs unveiling throwback uniforms, Boston College on Tuesday afternoon announced the return of their 1984 set for select games this fall.
The Eagles went 10-2 that season, notably beating 12th-ranked Miami, 47-45, on Hail Mary from Doug Flutie to Gerard Phelan as time expired.
This is not the first time Boston College has honored Flutie and Co. with a throwback uniform, as the Eagles wore a road version for their Shamrock Series game against Notre Dame at Boston’s Fenway Park in 2015 and a home version on several occasions in 2018.
This year’s throwback uniform — which accurately recreates the Flutie-era shoulder logo and sleeve stripes — is actually the exact same design as last year’s set, but has been updated to the latest version of Under Armour’s ArmourGrid template.
Other participating schools in Under Armour’s “School Heritage” line include California, Colorado State, Navy, Temple and Texas Tech, though their uniforms will be revealed at a later date.
