Oregon Ducks Unveil New Uniforms, Nike Vapor Fusion Template

There’s no denying Oregon has been at the forefront of Nike’s uniform innovation since 1999, and the Ducks proved it once again on Saturday afternoon with the release of brand new uniforms for the 2019 season.

As we first noted last month, the uniform design is very similar to what the Ducks unveiled prior to last season. The number font remains the same, but has been scaled back in size and now features a perforated material throughout. Other notable changes include the addition of iridescent stripes on the shoulders and sleeve caps; the Nike swoosh moving from the left shoulder to the collar and being replaced with Oregon’s primary logo; the removal of the military-style team name patch; and flipping the colors of the inverted nameplate on the back of the jersey.

In addition to apple green, dark green and yellow uniforms, the Ducks have two different white jerseys — one with apple green numbers and the other with iridescent green numbers. They’ve also added a new dark green helmet to the rotation.

The template, on the other hand, received a massive overhaul.

The Vapor Untouchable template — which the Ducks first wore in the 2016 Alamo Bowl — featured minimal seams and fewer panels than traditional uniform builds. It also restricted ventilation holes to the mesh insert on the collar and lower back. Nike’s newest template, dubbed the Vapor Fusion template, adds horizontal seams back to the chest, vertical seams down both the front and back of the jerseys and a cowcatcher-shaped mesh collar design.

Oregon opens the season against Auburn on Aug. 31. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
