Air Force Honors C-17 Globemaster III With Latest Air Power Legacy Series Uniform

Air Force will continue its Air Power Legacy Series this season with alternate uniforms that honor the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, a large military cargo and transport aircraft.

The Falcons will wear the C-17 alternate uniforms against Hawai’i on Oct. 19.

The flat gray helmet replicates the unit identification markings on the aircraft, while the all-gray uniforms with black typography features a specialty nameplate as a nod to nine active-duty United States Air Force bases throughout the country. Those bases are located in or near Anchorage, Alaska (Elmendorf); Riverside County, California (March Air Reserve); Solano County, California (Travis); Dover, Delaware; Honolulu, Hawai’i (Hickam); Burlington County, New Jersey (McGuire); Dayton, Ohio (Wright-Patterson); Charleston, South Carolina; and Tacoma, Washington (Lewis-McChord).

The uniforms also feature reflective material — which can be seen on the side of the aircraft — on the helmet, shoulders and down the pants.

This marks the fourth alternate uniform in the Falcons’ Air Power Legacy Series. The team wore uniforms based on the Tiger Shark nose art that has been used on multiple aircraft dating back to World War II in 2016, and followed that up with uniforms that paid homage to the F-35 Lighting II and AC-130 “Spooky” gunship in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
