Villanova will celebrate its 100th season of men’s basketball this year with brand new uniform, which head coach Jay Wright unveiled on Friday morning.
The white home uniform features the same arched font as the Wildcats’ previous set, but is highlighted with a light blue drop shadow. The number font has been changed, as well, using serifs and a drop shadow to better match the wordmark.
Another small-but-significant change to Villanova’s look is the addition of faint pinstripes to the uniform. They’ll be difficult to see from any sort of distance, but are visible in the promotional photos. The Wildcats have also swapped their team abbreviation for their alternate logo on the waistband of the shorts.
We’ve yet to get a full look at Villanova’s new shorts, which appear to have a throwback-like design around the knees rather than a truncated side panel. The Wildcats’ primary logo remains on the side, however.
The new uniforms are capped off with a gold tab on the back collar. As we first reported this morning, Villanova will be one of 12 men’s and women’s basketball programs to have wear a gold tab this season, which recognizes their status as a school that won a national championship while outfitted by Nike.
Similarly, teams that have reached the Final Four while wearing Nike gear will have a silver tab.
