The Phoenix Suns yesterday unveiled their new “Statement” (Alternate) uniform, an all-orange design with purple trim around the collar and arms.
Featuring the sun from the team’s primary logo across the chest, the new uniform was inspired by “Planet Orange”, the team’s nickname for Phoenix while also referencing the “Seven Seconds or Less” era of Suns basketball during the mid 2000s, the first Suns team to wear an orange uniform.
“With an eye towards the future, the new threads are designed to evoke a modern style”, the Phoenix Suns said about the new uniforms in the press release. “[They] are the first uniform in franchise history to feature no wordmark on the front of the jersey”.
The purple stripe down the side of the jersey forms a point, ending at the waistband of the shorts before rebooting itself on the shorts. At the pant leg there is a series of white diagonal stripes similar to the design of the streaks of the sun in the team’s main logo.
Phoenix will wear their new orange Statement uniform for Friday home games throughout 2019-20, as well as a few games on the road. The uniform schedule released by the team yesterday shows the following dates the uniform will be worn:
November 29 vs Dallas
December 27 at Golden State
January 3 vs Orlando
January 31 vs Oklahoma City
Feburary 7 vs Houston
February 28 vs Detroit
March 6 vs Portland
April 3 vs Cleveland
