Florida Gators Unveil 1960s Throwback Uniforms For Homecoming

Though a retail leak this summer initially broke the news, the University of Florida unveiled throwback uniforms on Sunday morning that resemble those worn by Heisman Trophy winner Steve Spurrier in the 1960s.

The uniforms are a part of the Gators’ homecoming weekend festivities, and will be worn against Auburn on Oct. 5.

Florida’s white helmet features a gray facemask, orange stripe down the center and a Block “F” enclosed within a circle on both sides. The front bumper, meanwhile, prominently displays the CFB 150 logo — which celebrates college football’s 150th anniversary and is typically worn as a uniform patch.

The blue Nike jersey features orange and white UCLA stripes. The Gators last donned this look in a win over Alabama on Sept. 30, 2006, though the helmet was slightly different in that game.

The throwback threads are complete with white pants that have orange and blue stripes down the leg, as well as white crew socks with a single blue stripe and black cleats.

Kickoff for Florida’s homecoming matchup with Auburn is set for 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
