The Toronto Raptors are bringing it all the way back to the very beginning tonight when they début their “Classic Edition” 1995 white throwback uniforms against the Orlando Magic.
The uniforms are based on what the team wore at home for the first four seasons from the Damon Stoudamire led 1995-96 team right through to the end of the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season.
In addition to the throwback uniform, the Raptors have also brought back the original court design the team played on during their inaugural season; when the team still played at SkyDome.
Toronto is wearing the classic threads in celebration of their 25th season, they’ll be worn a total of seven times, six times at home. Highlights in there include a home-and-home against the Memphis Grizzlies in March where both teams will wear uniforms from 1995 (Memphis wearing the original teal Vancouver Grizzlies design), as well as two against Vince Carter and the Atlanta Hawks.
Carter, currently playing in his record 22nd NBA season, actually wore this uniform when it was still an active design during this rookie year in the NBA. Vince will oppose the throwback he once wore on January 28 and again for his final appearance in Toronto on April 10th.
